Conserved Domain Database

The Conserved Domain Database (CDD) is a collection of sequence alignments and profiles representing protein domains conserved during molecular evolution. It is expected that knowledge of these domains will help bioinformatics practitioners to identify Functional Roles.

The CDD is maintained by NCBI, with an entry portal at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/Structure/cdd/cdd.shtml. Each protein domain identified in the database is given a five-digit CDD number. The CDD number is one of the search criteria available in the NMPDR Target Search. In addition, if you know the CDD number for a protein domain, you can enter it in the form below to see which genes in the Sprout Database produce that domain.

Notice to NMPDR Users - The NMPDR BRC contract has ended and bacterial data from NMPDR has been transferred to PATRIC (http://www.patricbrc.org), a new consolidated BRC for all NIAID category A-C priority pathogenic bacteria. NMPDR was a collaboration among researchers from the Computation Institute of the University of Chicago, the Fellowship for Interpretation of Genomes (FIG), Argonne National Laboratory, and the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois. NMPDR is funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Services, under Contract HHSN266200400042C.
