Regional Centers of Excellence
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Biodefense Network has established the Regional Centers of Excellence (RCEs) for Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases Research. The overall goals of the RCE program are to develop and maintain a strong infrastructure and to support multifaceted research and development activities that will provide the scientific information leading to the next generation of therapeutics, vaccines and diagnostics against NIAID Category A, B and C priority pathogens. NMPDR is a collaboration among researchers from the Computation Institute of the University of Chicago, the Fellowship for Interpretation of Genomes (FIG), Argonne National Laboratory, and the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois.
